I would like to see a new kind of Order Form wherein you enter first your RISK ALLOCATION ($ amount you want to risk for the trade) and your STOP LOSS LEVEL. Then four Buy (or Sell) BUTTONS are available to click on: FULL, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4.
What happens when you click a button:
FULL Button - Calculates no. of contracts needed in order to execute a buy (or sell) at the CURRENT PRICE LEVEL with a stop at the indicated STOP LOSS LEVEL at a cost equal to the βfullβ RISK ALLOCATION amount. After calculating, it executes a market order to buy/sell the calculated no. of contracts.
3/4 Button - Same calculation and execution but computes based on 3/4 of the RISK ALLOCATION
1/2 Button - Same calculation and execution but computes based on 1/2 of the RISK ALLOCATION
1/4 Button - Same calculation and execution but computes based on 1/4 of the RISK ALLOCATION
This type of ordering eliminates the need to do your personal calculations to arrive at how many contracts or shares you need to buy/sell in order to keep within your desired risk allocation. It also allows you to do market orders without worrying about risking more than you intended, especially during breakouts or when the price has moved away slightly from your planned entry or when price is still pulling back and you already want to add a partial position.
The partial buttons also allow you to average your entries as the price moves but still arrive at your planned risk allocation amount with the stop at your planned stop loss level.
