Chart Selection Does Not Sync With DOM — Leads to Incorrect Order Placement

I’ve run into a recurring issue when switching between charts in TopstepX. When I select a new chart to view, the DOM does not automatically update/sync to the selected chart’s symbol. This creates a dangerous situation where the DOM remains linked to the previously selected product, even though visually I am analyzing a different chart.

This has already led to mistakenly placing orders on the wrong instrument — especially when scalping and switching quickly between setups.

Expected Behavior:

When a chart tab or instrument is selected, the DOM should seamlessly sync to that same chart symbol so all order entries match what is displayed.

Current Behavior:

  • Charts and DOM operate independently

  • DOM stays on previous symbol after switching chart

  • Easy to enter orders on the wrong product without noticing

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open multiple chart tabs (e.g., GC, ES, NQ)

  2. Switch chart to a different symbol

  3. DOM remains on previous symbol

  4. Order executed on wrong market

Risk Level:

High — creates live-funding account loss risk due to accidental wrong-market trades.

Suggested Fix Options:

  • Add toggle: “Sync DOM to Selected Chart” (Recommended default: ON)

  • Visual warning when DOM symbol ≠ active chart symbol

  • Auto-symbol update on chart tab click

Environment:

Platform: TopstepX
Usage type: Live/Funded Futures Trading
Strategy: High-frequency scalping / multiple chart switching
