In the TSX YouTube video linked below it is stated that if you link your chart and order panel through the color link and save the layout it will come up the same way when you open TSX again. And it does. And if you remove and replace the chart component it will default to what you had prior, the same setting as in the saved layout. (I.e. it will not pick a symbol you haven't selected prior, a random symbol or an unrelated static default.)
But if you remove and replace the order panel, this is not true. Instead, the new order panel will default to ZUN24. I created a video very clearly illustrating this issue. This is inconsistent and misleading, and cost me $180 in two trades. This is not a feature request, but a fix request.
I would suggest one of the following options, in descending order of value:
1. The same as it was when it was brought up last time, the same value as in the saved layout.
2. The same as the selected chart in the layout, if there is a chart component.
3. A null default such that the panel simply won't work until you select a link color.
4. A null default such that the panel won't work unless you choose a link color or symbol that is within the options available on the charts present on your screen, and possibly flashes to identify the fact that it is not connected to a chart you have in your layout.
Or, some combination of the above.
To allow traders to accidentally trade symbols they don't normally trade or charts they don't have set up in their layout(s) is dangerous and extremely easy to avoid. Further, as I discovered myself while caught in this problem, if such a trade is placed, there is no way to see it and no (immediately obvious) way to know you are actually in a trade or how to kill it.
