Right now, when switching from one contract to another (e.g. MNQ → NQ or ES), the system carries over the previous default quantity. This creates a very unsafe trading environment.
On platforms like Thinkorswim or Webull, we can always change our default contract size — and those defaults don’t blindly carry over between completely different products. That makes sense, because a mistake like going from 5 MNQ to 5 ES can be extremely costly.
Topstep prides itself on promoting safety and responsible trading, but this current behavior doesn’t align with that mission. The default size should either:
reset to 1 whenever switching symbols, or
allow us to set custom defaults per contract (like other platforms).
Traders need a consistent, safe environment, especially when the focus should be on execution and discipline — not worrying about whether the system just carried over a dangerous contract size.
