Description:
Currently, contract limits in Topstep can be changed at any time during the session. This undermines the purpose of the feature — it’s too easy to bypass the limit with a quick settings change.
While this might help prevent fat-finger mistakes or inattentive order entries, it does little to enforce discipline or provide meaningful guardrails for risk management.
For traders using contract limits as part of a structured risk plan, the ability to change them mid-session makes the feature effectively useless.
Proposed Solution:
Make contract limits lockable for the duration of the session, just like other risk settings.
Once the market is open (or after a defined lock time), changes should only take effect for the next session.
This would align contract limits with Topstep’s other risk controls and make them a more effective tool for building discipline.
